Thalix Capsule
Thalix Capsule contains and belongs to a class of medications called immunomodulatory agents.
Indication:
Thalix is used in combination with dexamethasone to treat multiple myeloma in patients who have been newly diagnosed with this disease.
Thalix is used alone or with other medications for treating and preventing skin inflammation in patients who have moderate to severe erythema nodosum leprosum (enl: episodes of skin sores, fever, and nerve damage that occur in people with hansen's disease [leprosy]).
Mechanism of action:
Thalix treats multiple myeloma by strengthening the immune system to decrease certain substances that cause skin inflammation such as swelling in patients who have enl.
Supplied as:
Thalix is available as 50mg, 100mg & 200mg capsules.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness (e. G. , sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using thalix as it may add to their effects.
Thalix may cause nerve damage. The symptoms may develop during treatment or after the treatment is stopped. These symptoms may resolve slowly over time but may be permanent in some cases. Please contact your physician if you develop symptoms of numbness, tingling, burning sensation, or pain in the hands, arms, legs, or feet
The safety and effectiveness of thalix in children have not been confirmed, it should not be used in children younger than 12 years of age.
Do not take thalix if you are allergic to it or to any ingredient in thalix, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, could become pregnant, or if you become pregnant during treatment with & if you are taking. If you are taking thalix to treat multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the bone marrow), there is a risk that you will develop a blood clot in your arms, legs or lungs. This risk is greater when thalix is used along with other chemotherapy medications such as dexamethasone.
Drug Interactions:
The risk of severe drowsiness may be increased by bphenothiazines (eg, chlorpromazine), reserpine
Side effects The side effects associated with thalix are severe allergic reactions (rash; hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), burning, numbness, pain, or tingling of your hands, feet, arms, legs, or around the mouth or lips, calf pain or tenderness, mouth sores or irritation, neck pain or stiffness, pain or swelling in the arms or legs, red, ringing in the ears or hearing changes, seizures, severe tiredness or weakness, tremor, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, trouble sleeping, and weakness etc. note: thalix is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice. Do not share the medicine with others, since they may be suffering from a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug.
